Outline

The aim of the project is to create new scientific information on climate change impacts and adaptation measures. The quality of people’s lives (QoL) has not been sufficiently evaluated thus far. The goal of this study is to predict the impact of climate change on QoL, infrastructure, and regional industries and evaluate adaptation measures. We will clarify how QoL is affected by climate change. We will collect data that are important for maintaining future QoL in the fields of infrastructure, buildings, land use, transportation, health, and local industries. We will develop a model to predict the impact of climate change on QoL based on these data. In addition to evaluating the impacts of climate change on future scenarios, we will discuss possible adaptation measures and evaluate the effectiveness of each measure.

Research outline

Goals

  • To develop a model to predict the impact of future climate change on infrastructure, buildings, land use, transportation, and local industries in Japan
  • To evaluate the impact of climate change on QoL in each region
  • To discuss and evaluate effective adaptation measures to maintain or improve QoL in each region
